Louis J. Ingrassia Jr. - Commissioner of Public Works/ Highway Superintendent
It has been my pleasure to serve the Town of Wallkill Department of Public Works for over 30 years. I began my career with the Town of Wallkill on November 1, 1986 as a laborer in the Water and Sewer Department. I have applied myself and served previously as a Laborer, MEO, Water/Sewer Plant Operator, and as the Superintendent of Water and Sewer from 2008-2012.
I was appointed as the Commissioner of Public Works on January 1, 2013, and over the past Five years we have reinvented the way our DPW serves the residents and business community in our Town, and as of September 2015 I have also assumed the duties of Town Highway Superintendent.
I am proud to be a lifelong Town of Wallkill resident; I was raised on our family farm on Ingrassia Road and continue to live there today with my wife and our two children.
I am active in many local, state, and national Public Works Professional Associations. I am currently Chairman of the Hudson Valley Waterworks Conference, I am the Vice-Chairman of the Hudson Valley Damage Prevention Council for Dig Safe NY 811, Vice President of the Orange County Highway Superintendents Association, and I am currently the Co-Director of the Town of Wallkill Emergency Management Division.
I am also an elected Fire Commissioner for the Howells Fire District serving since 2001, and have been a Volunteer Firefighter since 1982 serving two terms as Chief of the Howells Fire Company #1.
I take enormous pride in serving the residents and business owners of our great Town.
I pride myself on accessibility and response to your concerns, and I look forward to serving you for many years to come.
